Pump

REMOVAL
Disconnect battery, remove:
- the engine pendulum mount cover (1),
- the injection pump pulley cover (2).

Turn the engine using tool Mot. 1054 to set it to TDC. To do so, rotate the engine so the camshaft sprocket index aligns with the timing case mark (use a mirror).

Remove:
the fuel supply hose (A),
the return hose (B),
the pump connector (C).
the accelerator cable (D),
the vacuum hose (E) connected to the fast-idle vacuum unit,
the high-pressure line using tool Mot. 1383,

the rear bracket mounting bolt.

Fit pump pulley holding tool Mot. 1200 or Mot. 1317.

Loosen:
using a Phillips screwdriver through the gaps in the RAM pulley, the three pump mounting bolts,
the central nut securing the pump shaft to the RAM pulley.
Alternately unscrew the central nut and all three pump mounting bolts until fully loosened.
Remove the pump.
INSTALLATION
Thoroughly clean the pump shaft with thinner to remove all grease.
Refit the pump.
Tighten the three pump mounting bolts to torque.
Pre-tighten the pump central nut to 2 daN.m.
IMPORTANT: pre-tightening before final tightening is mandatory; tighten the pump central nut to 4.5 daN.m.
Carry out the timing procedure (see chapter "Pump - Timing").
Carry out the remaining refitting steps in the reverse order of removal.
