Blower Motor Unit
Inspection
PROCEDURE
1. The blower motor unit is located in the passenger compartment, above the right footwell. If the blower does not operate, check all connections for security and cleanliness, and check the fuse. Make sure the battery is fully charged.
2. Remove the trim panel, glove box door, and lower right panel (see Subsection 1.5.44).
3. If the blower motor does not operate, disconnect the connector from the motor, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine), and check for voltage at the black wire terminal when the blower switch is in the ON position. If there is no voltage, the ignition power supply circuit is faulty.
4. If battery voltage is present, reconnect the connector to the blower motor and touch the black/white wire (on the back of the connector) with a jumper wire connected to ground. If the motor does not start, the motor is likely faulty.

5. Disconnect the connector (indicated by the arrow). Connect the motor terminals through a fuse to the battery and to ground. If the motor does not run, replace the blower motor.
6. If the motor is good but does not run at any speed, the heater/air conditioner control panel switch is faulty. Remove the control panel (see Subsection 11.25) and check the continuity of the switch circuit at each switch position.

7. If the motor runs only at high speed, check the blower motor resistor unit, located under the instrument panel on the passenger side. The resistor unit mounting location is indicated by the arrow. It is secured with two screws.
Removal
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the connector from the blower motor resistor unit. Remove the screws and take the resistor unit out of the housing.
2. Check the resistor unit for continuity with a tester. The tester should show continuity at all resistor unit terminals. Otherwise, replace the resistor unit.

3. If the blower motor needs to be replaced, remove the blower wiring connector holder, remove the three screws, and take the blower assembly with motor and fan out of the housing. The fan can be removed and transferred to a new motor.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
