Replacing the headlamp bulbs on the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) requires removing the complete headlamp. This section describes the individual steps from unlocking to the function check after installation. It also provides notes on safely handling connectors and avoiding damage to the headlamp. Tips on proper fastening help ensure the long service life of the components.

To replace the headlamp bulbs, first release the headlamp from the engine compartment and remove the complete headlamp.

Removing the Headlamps

Place the vehicle's electrical system in key position 0, see Key Positions - Functions in Different Positions.

Pull out the headlamp retaining pins.

Pull the headlamp straight forward.

IMPORTANT Pull on the connector only, not on the cable.

Release the headlamp connector. To do this, press the clip down with your thumb.

Pull the connector out with your other hand.

5. Lift the headlamp out and place it on a soft surface so the lens does not get scratched.

6. Replace the relevant bulb.

Installing the Headlamp

1. Connect the connector. A click must be audible.

2. Install the headlamp and insert the retaining pins. Make sure they are inserted correctly.

3. Perform a function check of the lighting.

The headlamp must be installed and the connector properly connected before switching on the lighting or inserting the transponder key into the ignition lock.

Replacing the bulb in the headlamp of the Volvo S80 (2nd gen) requires removing the complete headlamp. This provides safe access and avoids damage to the electrical system. When removing it, pull only on the connector and not on the cable.
