The fuse system in the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) protects electrical functions from overload. This section describes the fuse locations and the procedure for replacing defective fuses. It also explains how to recognize a blown fuse wire. Warnings on preventing fire damage and on selecting the correct fuse round out the information.

To prevent the vehicle's electrical systems from being damaged by short circuits or overload, the various electrical functions and components are protected by a number of fuses.

If an electrical component or function has failed, this may be because the corresponding fuse was briefly overloaded and has blown.

If the same fuse blows repeatedly, there is a fault in a component. In this case, Volvo recommends that you have the vehicle checked by a Volvo authorized workshop.

Replacing a fuse

  1. Use the fuse chart to locate the relevant fuse.
  2. Pull out the fuse and view it from the side to check whether the bent wire has blown.
  3. If the wire has blown, replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same color and amperage.
WARNING

Never use a foreign object or a fuse with a higher rating than specified to replace a fuse, as this can cause severe damage to the electrical system and create a risk of fire.

The fuses in the Volvo S80 (2nd gen) protect all electrical functions from overload or short circuit. If a system fails, first check the corresponding fuse and, if necessary, replace it with an equivalent one.

Repeated blowing of a fuse indicates a defect. In this case, Volvo recommends visiting an authorized workshop to find and rectify the cause.
