Fuel cut-off during overrun (coasting)
In this manual: MPI and MPFI Injection Systems
~1min read
When the vehicle is driving downhill and the accelerator pedal is not depressed, the engine does not require fuel. The vehicle moves under its own weight or by inertia. Based on high engine speed and the closed throttle position (via the throttle position potentiometer), the control unit recognizes overrun (coasting) mode and may switch to the "fuel economy" position.
