MPI and MPFI Injection Systems

Do-it-yourself repairs

~1min read

Unfortunately, many checks of the injection system cannot be carried out at home due to the lack of necessary test and measuring equipment. However, there is still a certain scope for work.

Procedure
The control unit cannot be checked with home equipment. Experience shows, however, that faults on this side are extremely rare. Sensors, switches and wire connections fail much more often. Therefore, if a fault occurs, proceed as follows:

PROCEDURE

Check all fuses related to the injection system (Nos. 13, 21, 27, 28 and 32). OK?
Check whether the ignition system is in order.

Check the fuel supply.

Carry out a visual inspection of the injection system components.

If the fault has not been found in this way, review the fault table at the end of the chapter, identify the possible cause of the fault, and check the suspected component using the test circuit diagram.

If this also does not help, read the fault memory at a workshop as part of vehicle diagnostics. However, this will only help if the battery has not been disconnected beforehand, since disconnecting the battery completely erases the fault memory.
