If the accelerator pedal is pressed suddenly, the mixture is enriched for acceleration if the increase in the air mass flow per second exceeds a certain value. The acceleration signal is also supplied by the throttle position potentiometer. If the engine is still cold, even more fuel is required for acceleration. The control unit therefore recognizes the corresponding pulse from the air flow meter or pressure sensor and the throttle position potentiometer as an acceleration signal and increases the fuel supply.
