Removing the Cooling Fan
The cooling fan must be removed from the radiator together with the rear radiator shroud – the so-called fan shroud:
PROCEDURE
4-cylinder engine models: Remove the upper mounting bolts from the fan shroud.
Disconnect the connector from the fan motor and disconnect the wiring harness.
Pull the shroud out of the brackets at the lower edge.
5-cylinder engine models: Remove the coolant expansion tank. The hoses remain connected.
Loosen the four mounting bolts on the shroud.
Disconnect the connectors on the fan motor.
Remove the shroud together with the fan motor.
6-cylinder engine models: Removal is performed as for the 4-cylinder engine; however, the wires to the fan motors at the bottom of the left side member must be disconnected from ground or from the resistor board.
To do this, remove the lower engine compartment cover (see Body chapter).
All models: To separate the motor and shroud, loosen the three mounting nuts.
