Cooling Fan Malfunctions
In addition to a stuck thermostat and a broken V-belt, an faulty cooling fan can cause the coolant temperature to become too high, but only during prolonged idling. However, a faulty fan does not necessarily mean the end of the trip:
Once the engine has cooled down, you can drive to the nearest workshop at medium engine speed and at a relatively brisk pace. Monitor the temperature gauge and warning lamp while driving.
Idling the engine and driving slowly can be fatal to the engine. In this case, almost no cooling air flows through the radiator. If you absolutely must continue driving at low speed, it is better to immediately start looking for the causes of the malfunction and, if necessary, bypass the thermo switch.
