Spark plug replacement

~1min read

The maintenance schedule calls for spark plug replacement every 30,000 km. This interval is realistic, and it is not recommended to extend it. Carefully monitor the condition of the ignition system, especially on vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter, as noted earlier. Still, take a close look at the removed spark plugs: the following describes what the deposits on a spark plug can tell you.

Note: if you removed the spark plugs for inspection between replacement intervals, do not clean them by hand. This will damage the insulating layer (steatite) of the spark plug center electrode. However, you can check the electrode gap.
