Disabling the ignition system

The control unit or the electronic ignition coil module will certainly be damaged if the engine is cranked with the starter while the high-tension lead is disconnected. Therefore:

Models with 4- and 5-cylinder engines: with the ignition switched off, disconnect the connector of the electronic ignition module (next to the ignition coil).

Models with 6-cylinder engine: with the ignition switched off, disconnect both connectors of the electronic ignition module (on the rear wall of the engine compartment).
