Filling and Bleeding the Power Steering Hydraulic System
The steering system must be filled and bled if individual components of the hydraulic system have been replaced and fluid has therefore been drained.
PROCEDURE
Clean the filter in the parts-cleaning container.
Fill with new fluid up to the "MAX" mark. Old fluid must not be reused.
Raise the front of the vehicle on both sides and, with the engine switched off, turn the steering wheel several times from stop to stop.
Top up the fluid to the "MAX" mark.
Start the engine and observe the fluid level: if the level drops when the engine starts, set the wheels straight ahead and keep topping up until the level stays constantly at the "MAX" mark. Also, no air bubbles should appear in the reservoir when the steering wheel is turned.
After a short drive, check the fluid level.
