Tire Rotation

~1min read

To equalize tread wear, HYUNDAI recommends rotating the tires according to the maintenance schedule, or sooner if uneven wear develops.

When rotating, check the tires for proper balance.

When rotating tires, check for uneven wear and damage. Abnormal wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment, wheel imbalance, hard braking, or sharp cornering. Look for bumps or bulges in the tread or sidewall. Replace the tire if you find any of these conditions. Replace the tire if the cord or fabric is visible. After rotation, be sure to adjust the front and rear tire pressures to specification and check the wheel nut torque (correct torque 79.6–94.0 lbf·ft [11.0–13.0 kgf·m]).

Disc brake pads must be checked for wear whenever the tires are rotated.

Information

When installing an asymmetric tire, install it with the side marked "OUTSIDE" facing outward.

WARNING

  • Do not use the compact spare tire for tire rotation.
  • Never mix bias-ply and radial tires under any circumstances. This may result in unusual handling characteristics that could cause loss of vehicle control, which may lead to a collision.
