Rail Pressure Sensor (RPS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Rail Pressure Sensor (RPS) is installed on the fuel rail and measures the instantaneous fuel pressure in the fuel rail. The sensing element (semiconductor element) built into the sensor converts the pressure into a voltage signal. Using this signal, the ECM can control the correct injection volume and timing, and correct the fuel pressure with the fuel pressure control valve if the target pressure and the actual pressure calculated from the RPS output signal differ.
