Description and Operation

Description

The valve body is necessary for controlling the automatic transmission and consists of various valves used to control the oil supply from the oil pump. In particular, these valves consist of pressure regulator valves, oil redirection valves, shift valves, and manual valves. The valve body is also equipped with electronic solenoid valves that provide smooth gear shifting.

Repair Procedures

Removal

  1. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Under Hood Compartment").

  2. Remove the ATF drain plug (A), allow the fluid to drain, and then reinstall the drain plug.

    Torque: 39.2 – 49 N·m

  3. Remove the valve body cover (A) using the SST (09215-3C000) after loosening the bolts.

  4. Remove the oil filter (A) after loosening the bolts.

  5. Disconnect the main connector (A).

  6. Remove the manual valve assembly after loosening the nut (A).

  7. Remove the valve body assembly (A) with the accumulators (B) after loosening the valve body mounting bolts.

Installation

  1. Install the accumulators and springs into the valve body.

    Item Color Spring
    A: UD Clutch Green 2 units
    B: Outer Diameter Clutch Pink 1 unit
    C: 2nd Brake Pink 2 units
    D: LR Brake Pink 1 unit

  2. Install the valve body with the accumulators, then tighten the mounting bolts.

    Tightening torque:

    9,8–11.8 N·m

    A: 6×30 mm

    B: 6×35 mm

    C: 6×40 mm

    D: 6×55 mm

    E: 6×60 mm

  3. Install the manual valve assembly by tightening the nut (A).

    Tightening Torque: 26.5–33 N·m

  4. Connect the main connector (A).

  5. Install the oil filter (A).

    Tightening torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m

  6. Apply liquid sealant in a 0.10 in. (2.6 mm) bead without gaps as shown in the illustration.

    Recommended: LOCTITE FMD-546 or THREE-BOND TB1281B

  7. Install the valve body cover (A).

    Tightening Torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m

  8. Install the lower cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Under Hood Compartment").

  9. Fill the automatic transmission with fluid.

    (Refer to Hydraulic System - "Fluid")
