Brake Pad Wear Indicators
The disc brake pads on your vehicle are equipped with audible wear indicators. If a brake pad needs to be replaced, the wear indicator produces a scraping noise or a high-pitched squeal when the vehicle is moving. The noise can be heard whether or not the brake pedal is depressed. If the brake wear indicators make a sound, have the brakes on your vehicle inspected as soon as possible.
Squeaking, squealing or other occasional brake noises may be heard under certain driving or weather conditions. It is normal to hear brake noises occasionally during light or moderate braking, and this condition does not affect the operation or performance of your vehicle's brake system.
Brakes must be inspected properly at the prescribed intervals. For more information on brake inspection intervals, refer to the relevant information in the NISSAN Maintenance and Repair Guide.
