Refuelling the tank

Refuelling the tank

Vehicle unlocked: to open the fuel flap, insert your finger into the cutout 1.

Use the ignition key to open the cap 2.

During refuelling, use the cap holder 3 on the fuel flap B to hang the cap 2.

Usable tank capacity: approximately 60 litres.

! Filler cap: it is specific.

If you need to replace it, make sure it is identical to the original cap.

Contact a brand Representative.

Do not handle the cap near a flame or heat source.

Do not wash the filler area with a high-pressure cleaner.

Fuel quality

Use good-quality fuel that complies with the standards in force in each country and strictly conforms to the information on label A located inside the fuel flap. Refer to the section "Engine specifications" in chapter 6.

Diesel versions

Use only diesel that conforms to the information on label A located inside the fuel flap.

When refuelling, make sure water cannot accidentally enter the tank. The closure system and its surround must be free of dust.

! Never mix petrol (unleaded or E85) with diesel, even in small quantities. Do not use ethanol-based fuel if your vehicle is not suited to it. Do not add any fuel additives, you risk damaging the engine.

Petrol versions

Use only unleaded petrol. The octane rating (RON) must conform to the information on label A located inside the fuel flap. Refer to the section "Engine specifications" in chapter 6.

Vehicles running on ethanol-based fuel

Use only unleaded petrol or fuel containing a maximum of 85% ethanol (E85).

In extreme cold, starting the engine may be difficult, or even impossible.

To avoid this problem, use unleaded petrol or, for vehicles equipped with it, use the engine-integrated heater: plug the specific end of the supplied extension cable into the socket built into the radiator grille and the other end into a 220V socket for at least 6 hours before starting.

Note: when using this fuel, you may notice higher fuel consumption.

Refuelling

Ignition off, insert the nozzle so as to open the flap and continue until the nozzle reaches its stop, then squeeze the trigger to fill the tank (risk of splashing).

Keep it in this position throughout the filling operation.

After the first automatic cut-off at the end of filling, no more than two additional top-ups may be made in order to leave room for fuel expansion.

Petrol versions

Using leaded petrol would damage the emission control systems and could void the warranty.

To prevent filling with leaded petrol, the fuel tank filler neck has a restrictor fitted with a safety system, which only allows an unleaded fuel nozzle (at the pump) to be used.

! Persistent smell of fuel

If a persistent smell of fuel appears, please:

  • stop the vehicle safely, in accordance with traffic conditions, and switch off the ignition;
  • switch on the hazard warning lights, get all occupants out of the vehicle and keep them away from the traffic;
  • contact a Brand Representative.
! Any work on or modification of the fuel system (electronic units, wiring, fuel circuit, injectors, protective covers...) is strictly prohibited due to the safety risks it may present (except by qualified personnel of the brand's network).

Bleeding the fuel circuit

Peripheral components (alternator, starter motor, engine mounts, etc.) must be protected against any diesel splashes.

! When working near the engine, it may be hot. In addition, the radiator fan may start at any time. Risk of injury.

Vehicles with manual priming pump

Réamorçage du circuit carburant
Bleeding the fuel circuit

  • If the vehicle is equipped with one, turn the bleed screw located on the diesel filter;
  • operate priming pump 1 until it becomes firm and fuel flows into the pipes.

Vehicles without manual priming pump

  • Turn the ignition key to the "Ignition on" M position (refer to the "Starter switch" section in chapter 2) and wait a few minutes before starting to allow the fuel circuit to prime;
  • turn the key to position D. If the engine does not start, repeat the procedure.
