Front bumper

PROCEDURE

Bumper covers (models built from 08.89) 1 – lower cover; 2 – rear cover; 3 – screw; 4 – bumper

Front bumper bracket mounting 1 – side member; 2, 3 – bolts; 4 – bracket

Front bumper side guides 1 – bumper; 2 – side support; 3 – guide; 4 – washer; 5 – body; I – guide on models built up to 08.1989

Removal PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the connector with the turn signal wires located at the right bumper bracket. 2. Remove the headlight washer hoses (if fitted). 3. Remove covers 1 and 2 (see figure Bumper covers (models built from 08.89)) from both sides of the vehicle (on models built from 08.1989). 4. Remove bolts 2 and 3 (see figure Front bumper bracket mounting) from both sides, securing brackets 4 of the bumper to side members 1. 5. Remove bumper 1 (see figure Front bumper side guides) by pulling it out toward you from side guides 3. 6. If brackets are to be removed from the bumper, first mark their relative position.

Warning: From 08.89 the design of the side guides was changed (see figure Front bumper side guides).

Installation PROCEDURE 1. Install the bumper by inserting it into side guides 3.

2. Tighten bolts 2 and 3 (see illustration Front bumper bracket mounting) on both sides to torque 82 N·m. Warning: Bolts must only be tightened to the same type as those installed before disassembly. 3. Feed the turn signal wire connector through the holes in the bumper bracket and connect it to the plug. 4. Install the headlight washer hoses (if equipped). 5. Install covers 1 and 2 (see illustration Bumper covers (vehicles produced from 08.89)) on both sides of the vehicle (on vehicles produced from 08.1989).
