If your vehicle has an oil pressure gauge installed, you can check the oil pressure yourself within the accuracy of the measuring instruments. Test conditions: seasonal oil SAE 20W/20, 80 °C oil temperature, engine running at 2000 rpm. You should obtain the following values:
| Engine | Oil Pressure at 2000 rpm | Maximum oil pressure (increase engine speed) |
| 4-cylinder | min. 2.0 bar | (no data) |
| 5-cylinder | min. 2.0 bar | max. 5.3 – 6.3 bar |
| 6-cylinder | max. 4.5 – 6 bar | (no data) |
However, oil pressure in the Audi is also well monitored without instruments. Two hydraulically operated switches take care of this. You will find more detailed information about this monitoring system in the chapter Instruments and Auxiliary Equipment.
