Lubrication System

~1min read

The engine has a number of bearings and friction pairs that must be lubricated. Engine oil must be pumped there under pressure; this is the task of the oil pump. It draws oil from the oil pan through the intake pipe and forces it into the oil filter of the main oil gallery.

If the filter was not replaced in time and the filter paper is clogged with dirt, the bypass relief valve opens around the oil filter, ensuring the oil supply.

From the filter, the lubricant passes through holes in the cylinder block to the lubrication points of the crankshaft, the intermediate shaft (4-cylinder engine only), and the cylinder head with the camshaft. Through holes, the oil drains back into the oil pan, from where the oil pump can draw it again for the next cycle.
