Shift Mechanism Adjustment

~1min read

PROCEDURE

Place the shift lever in the neutral position.

Unscrew the shift knob.

Use a knife to lift the small plate in front of the parking brake lever, and loosen the cross-head screw underneath it. The shift lever boot can now be removed.

Under the vehicle, loosen the hex bolt at the lower end of the shift lever slightly so that the lever and the shift rod can be rotated relative to each other.

Set the shift lever vertically and align it so that both projections of the ball joint are the same distance from the bearing housing, as shown in the illustration at lower left.

Carefully tighten the screw under the vehicle so that the adjusted position is not changed.

Final check of operation:
With the shift lever in neutral, it should be at the level of third-fourth gear.

Shift through all gears. Check the reverse gear lock-out function during this process.

If necessary, loosen the joint housing screws and turn the housing slightly.

Left: the distance between the ball joint and the housing must be the same on both the right and left sides.

Right: for adjustment, loosen the screw indicated by the arrow under the vehicle on the shift linkage rod system.
