Diesel Engine Fuel Filter Replacement
Fuel filter 1 clamp 2 fuel hose from fuel tank 3 O-ring 4 pressure regulating valve with fuel hoses 5 clip 6 fuel hose to high-pressure fuel pump 7 fuel filter
You will need the following to perform this work:
– Diesel engine fuel filter. – O-rings for the pressure regulating valve.
A suitable container is required to collect water separated from the fuel.
CAUTION
Spilled diesel fuel must be wiped up immediately, especially from rubber components (coolant hoses), otherwise they will be damaged.Never dispose of used oil or pour it into household waste. Local authorities must provide information on used oil collection points.
Removal
PROCEDURE
1. Clean the outside of fuel hoses -2- and -6-. Cut the clamps with side cutters and remove the hoses from the filter.
2. Remove clip -5- from the side.
3. Pull the pressure regulating valve -4- upward together with the attached fuel hoses.
4. Loosen the clamp bolt -1- on the bracket and remove filter -7- from the bracket.
5. Fill the new filter with clean diesel fuel. This will help the engine start faster.
6. Insert the filter into the bracket and tighten the clamp with bolt -1-.
7. Replace O-ring -3-, lightly coating it with diesel fuel before installation.
8. Install the pressure regulating valve and secure it with clip -5-.
9. Connect fuel hoses -2- and -6- and secure them with clamps.
CAUTION
Do not confuse the inlet and outlet. The arrow on the fuel filter shows the direction of fuel flow into the filter.10. Start the engine. Air is purged from the fuel system automatically after the engine starts. After pressing the accelerator pedal several times, fuel must flow through the transparent hose to the high-pressure fuel pump without air bubbles.
11. Visually check the fuel system for leaks, particularly at the fuel filter connections.
