Applying the Parking Brake

Рычаг фиксируется самостоятельно. Если ключ зажигания находится в положении

The lever locks automatically. If the ignition key is in position 2, the warning lamp with the symbol “P” will illuminate on the instrument cluster (refer to Section Controls and Instruments).

Releasing the Parking Brake

Pull the lever up slightly, press the button and lower the lever down.

The parking brake is intended only to hold a stationary vehicle from rolling and acts on the rear wheels.

If the parking brake must be used as an exception while driving, do not apply it with great force. In this case, keep the button on the lever depressed at all times.

Sudden application of the parking brake may lock the rear wheels and cause the vehicle to skid.

When the parking brake is applied, the brake lights do not illuminate.

Vehicles with MT: when parking on roads with a steep grade, apply the parking brake, since engaging first gear or reverse may, under certain circumstances, be insufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling away. Vehicles with AT: move the AT selector lever to position P.

To prevent corrosion, when driving slowly up to a traffic light, lightly apply the parking brake lever from time to time, if traffic conditions permit.
