8 — temperature control for the passenger side of the cabin
9 — defrost and dry the windows
10 — air conditioning (A/C)
11 — recirculation mode
12 — rear window defroster (see also Controls and Instruments section)
13 — fan speed control
14 — residual heat utilization button
15 — temperature sensor air intake grille - do not obstruct
A comfortable cabin temperature in any weather provides a pleasant driving environment. This contributes not only to your well-being but also to road safety. Separate temperature control for the driver and front passenger takes into account that personal comfort is a subjective matter. A large number of air vents, their placement, and individual adjustment options provide air distribution without drafts. The cabin microfilter and activated charcoal filter clean the outside air entering the cabin. The air conditioning system uses refrigerant that contains no chlorofluorocarbons, which helps protect the environment.

Automatic Air Distribution
The automatic program takes care of air distribution and, in addition, adjusts the airflow and temperature settings you entered to match outside conditions (summer, winter). In any season, the system provides a comfortable climate in the vehicle. Select a comfortable cabin temperature and fan speed. The settings you entered are shown on display 7; see the overview illustration of airflow distribution. Open the air vents for the upper body. In warm weather, switch on the air conditioning. Maximum cooling is achieved by setting knurled wheel 3 to the "Cold" position.

Manual Air Distribution
You can set the air distribution mode manually, which switches off the automatic system. Air is directed to the windows,
to the upper body,
to the feet.

Temperature
The driver and front passenger can each select the desired temperature for their side of the cabin. The scale graduations serve as a guide when selecting the cabin temperature. It is recommended to set 22°C, including when the air conditioning is on. After driving starts, the selected temperature is reached very quickly, both in summer and winter, and is maintained at a constant level.

Defrosting and Drying the Windows
This program quickly defrosts and dries the windshield and side windows.

Air Conditioning
When the air conditioning is switched on, the incoming outside air is cooled, dehumidified and, if necessary, reheated depending on the selected temperature. Avoid frequent switching the air conditioning on and off to prevent the windows from fogging up. Depending on weather conditions, the windshield may fog up for a short time after starting the engine.
Water condensation collects in the air conditioning system and drains under the vehicle. Therefore, water traces on the road are not a sign of a malfunction.

Recirculation mode / Automatic Air Quality Control (AUC)
If there are unpleasant odors in the outside air, you can stop the outside air from entering the cabin.
In this case, the system uses only the air inside the cabin. Pressing the button in sequence allows you to select three operating modes:
- Indicator lamps off: outside air is admitted.
- Left indicator lamp on: the system has detected a high concentration of harmful substances in the outside air and has shut off its supply to the cabin. Only the air inside the cabin is used.
- Right indicator lamp on: outside air supply is shut off for an extended period. Only the air inside the cabin is used.
If the vehicle is equipped with a multifunction steering wheel with a recirculation button, you can also control this mode from the steering wheel (refer to the Controls and Instruments section).
If the windows fog up while recirculation mode is on, switch off recirculation mode/Automatic Air Quality Control.

Rear window defroster
When the rear window defroster is on, the indicator lamp illuminates. The rear window defroster switches off automatically.

Air flow
You can adjust the air flow steplessly. The settings you have entered are shown on display 7; refer to the overview illustration of cabin air distribution. If necessary, these settings are automatically adjusted to the heating or cooling demand.
If you press "-" while the fan is operating at its lowest speed, all indications go out. The fan, heating system and air conditioning switch off, and air flow stops. Press any button of the automatic air conditioning to switch the system on again.

Using heat from the cooling engine
After the ignition is switched off, for example when stopped at a railway crossing, heat stored in the engine continues to be used to heat the cabin air.
When the ignition key is turned to position 0, heated air is automatically directed to the windshield and side windows and to the footwell. If the ignition key is turned to position 1, you can change all automatic air conditioning settings.
Chemical heat accumulator*

The heat accumulator stores heat from the engine even at extremely low outside air temperatures. After the engine starts, this stored heat can be used directly to defrost and dry the windshield and side windows. The time required to warm up the cabin and the engine is also significantly reduced.
The heat accumulator consists of a well-insulated storage unit connected to the engine cooling system.
It works by using the heat released when an environmentally friendly salt mixture changes from liquid to solid state. Similar to the heat absorbed when ice melts, engine heat is stored as the salt mixture liquefies.
The heat accumulator therefore improves driving safety and comfort without placing additional burden on the environment.
The accumulator requires no maintenance, as its operation is controlled by electronics.
This function can only be activated when the outside air temperature is not above +15°C, the engine has reached operating temperature, and the battery voltage is sufficient.
Draft-free ventilation
You can adjust the airflow to the upper body as desired.

Using the knurled wheels 1 you can steplessly open and close the vents. Levers 2 allow you to change the direction of the air entering the cabin. Knurled wheel 3 lets you add more or less cool air to the air flowing to the upper body.
Turn toward the blue marking - cooler
Turn toward the red marking - warmer
Adjustment of the vents in the rear of the cabin is performed in the same way as described above. The incoming air is not heated.
Microfilter, activated charcoal filter
The microfilter traps dust particles and pollen present in the air drawn from outside. The activated charcoal filter removes gaseous substances from the incoming air. During maintenance, the combined filter is replaced. The need for early replacement can be determined by a significant reduction in maximum airflow.
