Detachable towing ball without tools

Overview

Installing and removing this original towing device does not require any tools.

   Locked position (green marks aligned with each other); the wheel is in contact with the towball (no gap).

    Unlocked position (red mark opposite the green mark); the wheel and the towball are no longer in contact (gap of approximately 5 mm).

Affix the supplied label in a clearly visible place, near the carrier or inside the boot.

Trailers with LED lights are not compatible with the electrical harness of this device.

For safe driving with a towing device, refer to the corresponding section.

Before each use

Check that the towball is correctly fitted by verifying the following points:

- The green mark on the wheel lines up with the green mark on the towball.

- The wheel is in contact with the towball (position A).

- The security lock is closed and the key removed; the wheel can no longer be operated.

- The towball must not move at all in its support; try shaking it by hand.

If the towball is not locked, the trailer may detach - Risk of accident!

During use

Never unlock the device while the towing attachment or carrier is fitted to the towball.

Never exceed the vehicle's maximum permissible towing weight (MTRA).

Strictly observe the maximum load permitted on the towing device: if exceeded, the device may detach from the vehicle - Risk of accident! Before driving, check the headlamp aiming and the operation of the trailer lights.

After use

When driving without a towing attachment or carrier, the towball must be removed and the cover inserted into the support to keep the number plate and/or lighting visible.

Fitting the towball

► Under the rear bumper, remove the protective cover 2 from the mounting bracket 1.

► Insert the end of the towball 5 into the bracket 1 and push it upwards; locking takes place automatically.

► The wheel 6 turns a quarter turn anticlockwise; take care to keep your hand clear!

► Check that the mechanism is correctly locked (position A).

► Close the lock 7 using the key.

► Remove the key. The key cannot be removed when the lock is open.

► Clip the cap onto the lock.

► Remove the protective cover from the towball.

► Attach the trailer to the towball.

► Attach the trailer's safety cable to the safety ring 4 on the bracket.

► Lower the connection socket 3 into position.

► Insert the trailer plug and turn it a quarter turn to connect it to the connection socket 3 on the bracket.

Removing the towball

► Turn the trailer plug a quarter turn and pull it out to disconnect it from the connection socket 3 on the bracket.

► Raise the connection socket 3 to the right to stow it.

► Detach the trailer's safety cable from the safety ring 4 on the bracket.

► Detach the trailer from the towball.

► Refit the protective cover on the towball.

► Remove the lock cap and press it onto the key head.

► Insert the key into the lock 7.

► Unlock using the key.

► Hold the towball 5 firmly with one hand; with the other hand, pull and turn the wheel 6 clockwise until it stops; do not release the wheel.

► Pull the towball out from the bottom of its bracket 1.

► Release the wheel; it locks automatically in the unlocked position (position B).

► Refit the protective cover 2 into the mounting bracket 1.

► Store the towball in its bag, protected from impacts and dirt.

Maintenance

Correct operation is only possible if the towball and its bracket remain clean.

Before cleaning the vehicle with a high-pressure jet, the towball must be removed and the cover inserted into the bracket.

Affix the supplied label in a clearly visible place, near the carrier or inside the boot.
