Citroen C5 Aircross (2017- 2024) - Owner's Manual

Snow Chains

~1min read

In winter conditions, snow chains improve traction and vehicle behaviour during braking.

Snow chains must only be fitted to the front wheels.

They must not be fitted to the "puncture-repair" type spare wheel.

Observe the regulations specific to each country regarding the use of snow chains and the maximum permitted speed.

Only use chains designed for the type of wheels fitted to the vehicle:

Fitting advice

► To fit the snow chains while on a journey, stop the vehicle on level ground, at the edge of the road.

► Apply the parking brake and, if necessary, place wheel chocks under the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.

► Fit the snow chains following the manufacturer's instructions.

► Drive off slowly and drive for a short distance without exceeding a speed of 50 km/h.

► Stop the vehicle and check that the snow chains are correctly tensioned.

It is strongly recommended to practise fitting the snow chains before setting off, on a flat, dry surface.

Avoid driving on cleared roads with snow chains fitted, so as not to damage the vehicle's tyres or the road surface. If the vehicle has aluminium alloy wheels, check that no part of the chain or its fixings contacts the wheel rim.
