Load distribution

► Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as possible to the axle, and so that the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted, without exceeding it.

Air density decreases with altitude, which reduces engine performance. Reduce the maximum towing capacity by 10% for every 1,000 metres of altitude.

Use towing devices and their original wiring harnesses approved by CITROËN. It is recommended that installation be entrusted to the CITROËN network or a qualified workshop.

If fitted outside the CITROËN network, installation must strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Important: with a powered tailgate and its hands-free function (Hands-free access), if a towing device is fitted outside the CITROËN network, it is essential to go to the CITROËN network or a qualified workshop to recalibrate the detection system. Risk of malfunction of the Hands-free access function.

Certain driver assistance or parking assistance functions are automatically deactivated when an approved towing system is used.

Observe the maximum permitted towing weight shown on the vehicle registration certificate, the manufacturer's label and in the Technical specifications section of this guide.

When using accessories fitted to the towing device (e.g. bike racks, towing boxes):

- Observe the maximum permitted nose weight.

- Do not carry more than 4 standard bicycles or 2 electric bicycles.

When loading bicycles on a tow-ball bike rack, always place the heaviest bicycles as close to the vehicle as possible.

Observe the legislation in force in the country of travel.

Vehicle fitted with a powered tailgate with hands-free function (Hands-free access)

To prevent the powered tailgate from opening unintentionally when handling the towing device:

- First deactivate this function in the vehicle configuration menu.

- Or move the electronic key away from the detection zone, with the tailgate closed.
