Care and maintenance tips

General precautions

Observe the following instructions to avoid damaging the vehicle.

Outside

Never use high-pressure washing in the engine compartment - risk of damaging electrical components! Do not wash in direct sunlight or in severe cold.

When washing the vehicle in an automatic roller car wash, remember to lock the doors and, depending on version, move the electronic key away and deactivate the hands-free function (hands-free access when your arms are full).

When using a high-pressure lance, keep a distance of at least 30 cm from the vehicle (particularly around stone chip areas, sensors and sealing strips).

Quickly clean off deposits containing aggressive chemicals that can damage paintwork (tree resin, bird droppings, insect secretions, pollen, tar).

Clean frequently, depending on the environment, to remove iodine deposits (coastal areas), soot (industrial areas), mud and salt (wet or cold areas): these are highly corrosive.

To remove stubborn stains requiring a specific product (tar remover, insect remover), consult a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Have paint touch-ups carried out preferably by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Inside

When washing the vehicle, never clean the interior with a water jet or a high-pressure lance.

Any liquid carried on board in a cup (mug or equivalent) that may spill presents a risk of damage to the driving controls and centre console. Be careful! To clean instrument clusters, touchscreens or other displays, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use products (e.g. alcohol, disinfectant) or soapy water directly on these surfaces - risk of damage!

Body

Glossy paint

Do not use abrasive products, solvents, petrol or paraffin to clean the bodywork.

Never use an abrasive sponge to remove stubborn stains - risk of scratching the paint! Do not apply the polish in direct sunlight or on plastics or rubber.

Use a soft cloth and soapy water or a pH-neutral product.

Gently wipe the bodywork with a clean microfibre cloth.

Apply the polish to a clean, dry vehicle.

Follow the instructions for use printed on the product.

Decals

(Depending on version)

Do not use high-pressure washing to clean the vehicle - risk of damaging or peeling off stickers!

Use a high-flow water jet (temperature between 25ºC and 40ºC).

Hold the water jet perpendicular to the surface being cleaned.

Rinse the vehicle with demineralised water.

Fabric

The dashboard, door panels and seats may include fabric parts.

Maintenance

Do not use aggressive cleaning products (e.g. alcohol, solvent or ammonia).

Do not use steam cleaning systems - risk of altering the adhesion of the fabrics!

Dust fabric parts regularly using a dry cloth, a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.

Once a year, wipe the fabric parts with a clean, damp cloth. After a night of drying, brush with a soft-bristle brush.

Stain removal

Do not rub, to avoid spreading the substance or pushing it further into the material.

Act quickly, working the stain inwards from the edge.

Remove as much of the substance as possible: solids with a spoon or spatula, liquids with absorbent paper.

Product / procedure to use depending on the type of stain:

- Grease, oil and ink: clean with a pH-neutral detergent.

- Gastric reflux: clean with sparkling mineral water.

- Blood: sprinkle flour on the stain; let dry and remove with a slightly damp cloth.

- Mud: let dry and remove with a slightly damp cloth.

- Cake, chocolate, ice cream: clean with lukewarm water.

- Sugary and/or alcoholic drinks: clean with lukewarm water or lemon juice if the stain persists.

- Hair gel, coffee, tomato sauce, vinegar: clean with lukewarm water and lemon juice.

For solid substances, then use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.

For liquid substances, then use a damp microfibre cloth, and dry with another cloth.

Leather

Leather is a natural material. Appropriate and regular care is essential to its longevity.

It must be protected and conditioned with a "special leather" product to keep it supple and maintain its original appearance.

Do not use cleaning products not suitable for leather (solvent, detergent, petrol, pure alcohol).

If an item is partly made of leather, take care not to damage the other materials with the "special leather" product.

Before cleaning, if the stain is greasy or liquid, quickly absorb the excess.

Before cleaning, remove any residue that could scratch the leather, using a cloth dampened with demineralised water and thoroughly wrung out.

Clean the leather with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or a pH-neutral product.

Dry with a soft, dry cloth.
