Refuelling
Fuel tank capacity: approximately 53 litres (Petrol or Diesel) or 43 litres (Plug-in hybrid).
Reserve level: approximately 6 litres.
Fuel reserve
When the fuel tank reserve level is reached, this indicator lights up in the instrument panel, together with a message and an audible signal. When it first comes on, approximately 6 litres of fuel remain.
As long as sufficient fuel has not been added, this indicator reappears each time the ignition is switched on, together with the message and the audible signal. While driving, the audible signal and the warning message are repeated more frequently as the fuel level approaches "0".
Be sure to add fuel to avoid running out.
For more information on running out of fuel (Diesel), refer to the corresponding section.
A small arrow next to the indicator shows which side of the vehicle the fuel filler flap is on.
Stop & Start
Never refuel when the engine is in STOP mode; the ignition must be switched off.
Refuelling
Fuel top-ups must be more than 10 litres to be recorded by the fuel gauge.
Opening the flap may cause a suction noise. This vacuum, which is completely normal, is caused by the sealing of the fuel system.
The cap is integrated into the flap or unscrews (depending on version).
To refuel safely:
► Always stop the engine.

► To open the flap, press the fuel flap opening button for more than 2 seconds or, with the vehicle unlocked, press the upper rear corner of the flap opposite the ejector or the touch marker if present (depending on version).
Plug-in hybrid vehicles
After pressing the button on the dashboard, the flap may take a few minutes to open. A sound accompanies the opening of the flap.
If the fuel filler flap is jammed, press and hold the button on the dashboard for more than 3 seconds.
► Identify the pump that matches the fuel suitable for the vehicle engine (as shown on the label stuck inside the fuel filler flap).
► Turn the fuel cap anticlockwise, remove it and place it on its holder on the flap (depending on version).
► Insert the nozzle as far as it will go before triggering it to fill the tank (risk of splashing).
► Carry out the refuelling operation.
Do not continue refuelling after the third automatic shut-off of the nozzle, as this could cause malfunctions.
► Refit the fuel cap and turn it clockwise (depending on version).
► Push the fuel filler flap to close it.
The vehicle is fitted with a catalytic converter that reduces harmful substances in the exhaust gases.
For petrol engines, unleaded fuel is mandatory.
The filler neck has a narrower opening that only accepts unleaded petrol.
If fuel that does not match the vehicle engine has been put in, the fuel tank must be drained before starting the engine.
Fuel filler restrictor (Diesel)
(Depending on market.) This mechanical device prevents petrol from being put into the tank of a vehicle that runs on diesel.
Located at the entrance to the tank, the anti-misfuelling device is visible when the cap is removed.
Operation
When inserting the petrol nozzle into the diesel tank, the nozzle strikes the flap.
The system remains locked and prevents refuelling.
Do not force it and do not insert a diesel nozzle.
The anti-misfuelling device does not prevent refuelling from a jerrycan, whatever the fuel.
Travelling abroad
Diesel nozzles may differ from country to country, so the presence of the anti-misfuelling device may make it impossible to refuel the tank.
Before travelling abroad, it is advisable to check with a CITROËN dealer whether the vehicle is suitable for the fuel dispensing equipment in the countries you will pass through.
