Description
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a Hall effect sensor that detects the camshaft position using a Hall element. It works together with the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) to identify the piston position of each cylinder, which the CKPS cannot detect. Two CMPS are installed on the cylinder heads of bank 1 and bank 2 (intake and exhaust), respectively, and use a target wheel installed on the camshaft. As the target wheel passes the Hall sensor, the magnetic field changes in the sensor. The sensor then switches the signal, which generates a square wave.
