Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IATS) is built into the barometric pressure sensor and detects the intake air temperature. To calculate the accurate air volume, air temperature correction is necessary because air density changes with temperature. Therefore, the ECM uses both the BPS signal and the IATS signal. This sensor has a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, and its resistance changes inversely with temperature.
