Adjusting the front passenger seat
In the Kia Opirus (2003–2012), the front passenger also enjoys seating comfort at the highest level. The seating position can be adjusted electrically, including backrest recline, and optional seat heating and ventilation make it ideal for long journeys. Additional controls even allow operation from the driver's seat or the rear seat. This well-designed system impressively reflects the luxury character of the vehicle.
Adjusting the seat in the longitudinal direction (forward and rearward)
Press the switch forward or rearward to move the seat in the desired direction.
When you release the button, the seat stops in the selected position.
Adjust the seat before driving and make sure it is securely locked in place by trying to move the seat forward or backward without operating the switch. If the seat moves, it is not properly locked.
WARNINGTo avoid unnecessary injuries from airbags, including possible serious or fatal injuries, always sit as far back as possible. Deployment of the passenger airbag at too short a seat distance could result in serious or fatal injuries.

Adjusting the front passenger seatback recline
Press the switch forward or rearward until the desired seatback recline is reached, then release the switch. Once you release the switch, the seatback stays in the selected position. Make sure the switch has returned to its original position.
WARNINGIf the seatback of a front seat is reclined too far rearward while driving, this could result in serious or fatal injuries in a collision. If the seatback of a front seat is reclined too far rearward, the occupant's hips can slide under the lap belt, so that large forces can act on the unprotected abdomen and neck.
This could cause internal injuries. Always keep the seatbacks in a comfortable, upright position while driving.

Additional switches for front passenger seat adjustment*
Some vehicle versions are equipped with additional switches that allow the front passenger seat to be adjusted in the longitudinal direction (1) and the seatback recline (2) from the driver's seat or the rear seat. These switches are located on the left side of the front passenger seatback (A) and in the center armrest (B) of the rear seat. Do not operate these switches when the front passenger seat is occupied.

Front passenger seat heater*
When the ignition is on, the front seats can be individually electrically heated. Heat levels 1–5 (5 = highest level) are shown on the switch when the ignition is on.
To turn off the seat heater, set the switch to level 0.
The seat heater switches off automatically when the seat temperature reaches the selected temperature.
It switches back on when the seat temperature drops below the selected temperature.
Seat ventilation*
The front seats are ventilated through small openings in the surface of the seat cushion and seatback when the control switch is in the range -1 to -3 with the ignition on.
Do not allow liquids such as water or drinks to reach the surfaces of the front seat cushions and seatbacks. The ventilation openings could become clogged, and proper function could be prevented.
Do not place materials such as plastic bags or newspapers under the seats. The ventilation function could be impaired, as the air intake may be blocked.
If the ventilation does not work, restart the vehicle.
If the condition persists, have your vehicle checked by an authorized KIA dealer.
When you operate the control, you will notice a temperature change after 3 to 5 minutes. The temperature change takes place through the small ventilation openings.
You can increase effectiveness by additionally switching on the air conditioning or the heater.
CAUTION- Do not use solvents such as thinner, gasoline, or alcohol to clean the seats. Such solvents can damage the surfaces of the seat heater and seat covering.
- To prevent the seat heater from overheating, do not place blankets, cushions, or seat covers on the seats while the seat heater is switched on.
- Do not transport heavy or sharp-edged objects on seats equipped with a seat heater. The seat heater components could be damaged.
All vehicle occupants should be especially careful when switching on the seat heater, as high temperatures are possible. Use caution if the following persons sit on a seat with a seat heater.
- Infants, children, elderly persons, persons with a handicap, or sick persons.
- Persons sensitive to heat or with very sensitive skin.
- Fatigued persons.
- Anesthetized or intoxicated persons.
- Persons who have taken sleeping pills or other drowsiness-inducing medication.
