  1. To open the hood, pull the hood release lever. The hood should pop up slightly.
WARNING After turning off the engine of a vehicle parked on a level surface, open the hood, place the gear selector in P (Park) for an automatic transmission, or in 1st gear or R (Reverse) for a manual transmission, and apply the parking brake.

  1. Then go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, push the auxiliary latch (1) located inside under the hood, and lift the hood (2) up.

  1. Remove the prop rod from the hood.
  2. Hold the hood open with the prop rod.
WARNING - Hot Components Hold the prop rod at the rubber-covered section. When the engine is hot, the rubber helps protect the user from burns from hot metal.
