VORGEHENSWEISE

1. Using the special tool 09565–11100, turn the pinion one revolution every 4 to 6 seconds and measure the preload. Also measure the rack starting force.

Total pinion preload: 0.6–1.3 N•m.

Measure the total preload through the full stroke of the steering gear pinion.

2. If the preload is not within specification, first adjust the plug tightening torque and then check the pinion preload again.
