Checking the throttle valve potentiometer

~1min read

Models with automatic transmission
TEST PROCEDURE

Disconnect the three-pin connector of the throttle position potentiometer.

For testing, connect the ohmmeter to terminals 1 and 2:
The reading should be 1.5 – 2.6 kΩ.

Now connect the ohmmeter to terminals 2 and 3:
The reading should be 0.75 – 1.3 kΩ.

Slowly open the throttle valve while the ohmmeter remains connected.

The resistance should increase to a maximum of 3.6 kΩ.

Note: the throttle valve potentiometer can be adjusted. However, afterwards a "basic adjustment" of the automatic transmission must be performed – a job for a workshop.
