PROCEDURE

Disable the ignition system as described in the Ignition System chapter.

Remove the cold start valve, disconnect the wire connector, leave the fuel line hose connected.

Crank the engine briefly with the starter so that the fuel pump can build up pressure.

Place the injector in a container, connect two auxiliary wires to the valve terminals.

Connect the free ends of the wires to the battery terminals – one to "+", the other to "-".

The valve should now spray fuel in a cone-shaped pattern.

Leak test: remove the auxiliary wires.

Crank the engine with the starter once more briefly to allow the fuel pump to build pressure.

Wipe the valve clean. No fuel should emerge within one minute.
