FUELLING

It is advisable to do this in good time, before the diesel fuel has thickened.
If it has already thickened and the engine does not start, place the vehicle in a heated garage or room for some time.
Mixing diesel fuel with any other additives is not recommended.
The fuel filler flap compartment is located in the lower part of the rear right wing of the vehicle.
Open the compartment cover as shown in the illustration.
The fuel filler cap lock can be opened with either the main key or the spare key.
The fuel tank capacity is approximately 68 litres, and 70 litres on the Audi Quattro.
When refuelling, insert the nozzle as far as possible into the filler neck. On vehicles with catalytic converters, the fuel nozzle must seal the filler neck tightly. A special clip is provided in the lower part of the neck for this purpose.
The nozzle for unleaded fuel has a narrower tip. It is designed specifically to distinguish which fuel the vehicle is being refuelled with.
As soon as the fuel nozzle shuts off automatically, the tank is full. Do not add more fuel, otherwise you will fill the space intended for fuel expansion.
Leakage may occur when the tank is heated.
Recommendations for turbodiesel engines
Fuel system ventilation: Ventilation and venting of air from an empty fuel tank takes place automatically when the engine is started.
