Winter Tires
In winter operating conditions, even on four-wheel-drive vehicles, winter tires significantly improve vehicle handling. This is especially true for versions with VR or HR tires. Such tires are designed for high-speed driving and are made from special heat-resistant rubber, which is not entirely suitable for use on slippery snow- and ice-covered roads.
When switching to winter tires, observe the following rules:
- Winter tires must be radial type only.
- It is recommended to install them on all four wheels at the same time.
- Pressure in winter tires must be 0.2 bar higher than in summer tires.
- When the tread depth wears down to 4 mm, winter tires lose their special purpose and advantages for winter operation.
- All-season tires may be used instead of winter tires.
- On tires with the SR- designation and the letter O at the end of the digital code on the sidewall, and on HR- tires (with the letter T), the maximum speeds must not exceed 160 km/h and 190 km/h respectively.
