ENGINE OILS - Petrol engines

When the vehicle leaves the factory, the engine is filled with high-quality all-season oil suitable for year-round operation in almost all climatic zones. Engine oil quality largely determines engine performance and service life.

Therefore, always make sure that the oil meets high standards.

The market is currently flooded with a wide variety of engine oil brands of varying quality, making selection difficult. For this reason, we recommend the following mineral or synthetic oils, which we have tested:

- Multi-function oils, specification VW 501 01 - Low-friction oils, specification VW 500 00 - High-quality engine oil (for full-power engine operation), specifications VW 500 00 and VW 505 00

Multi-function oils, specification 501 01, are the most cost-effective and have the following characteristics:

- Suitable for year-round use in temperate climates - Provide good cleaning action - Provide reliable lubrication at any temperature and engine load - Highly resistant to aging

Low-friction oils and high-quality engine oils (for full-power engine operation), specifications 500 00 and 505 00, have the following advantages:

- Suitable for year-round use at virtually any outside air temperature - Minimize friction resistance of moving parts, thereby reducing engine power loss - Best suited for cold engine starting, including at very low temperatures.

If these oils are unavailable, the API SF grade may be used temporarily as an exception.

A — High-quality engine oils and low-friction oils B — Multi-function oils C — Single-function oils

It is advisable to have the oil changed at a service station. Select the oil viscosity class according to this table. If the outside air temperature exceeds the specified limits for a short period, an oil change is not required.

When using single-function oil SAE 10W or multi-function oil SAE 5W-20 or SAE 5W-30, avoid prolonged engine operation at high speeds and under heavy load.

These restrictions do not apply to high-quality engine oils and low-friction oils.
