BRAKE SYSTEM
The most important recommendations for proper system operation: New brake pads always require bedding-in. This means that during the first 200 km the friction force of the pads has not yet reached its maximum level.
Therefore, during this period it is necessary to press the brake pedal harder.
If necessary, use engine braking, which partially relieves the braking system.
Apply the brake pedal intermittently at short intervals.
When driving the vehicle in rainy weather, after driving through puddles, after washing the vehicle, or sometimes in winter conditions, the brake pads and linings must be dried. To do this, it is sufficient to press the brake pedal several times gently.
This also applies when driving on roads treated with road salt, which, after prolonged driving, settles on the brake linings and reduces braking effectiveness.
The wear life of the pads depends to a large extent on the operating conditions and driving style of the vehicle.
Wear increases when driving in the city, on short trips, and with sporty driving characterized by rapid acceleration and braking.
In such cases, check the condition of the brake pads more often.
One of the signs of a brake system malfunction is increased brake pedal travel. If this occurs while driving, you may continue under your own power to the nearest service station. Only take into account the increased braking distance and press the pedal harder.
Regularly check the condition and level of the brake fluid. A drop in brake fluid level in the braking system is monitored and indicated by the corresponding warning lamp on the instrument panel.
