Tools required for this procedure include vehicle support stands, a socket wrench for the drain plug, a drain pan, newspaper and clean rags. Also prepare the required quantity of transmission oil (refer to the Section "Types and Capacities of Lubricants and Fluids" in the Specifications).

Manual transmission oil must be replaced every 80,000 km as part of maintenance service. Between services, check the manual transmission for leaks and monitor the oil level. The level must reach the bottom edge of the filler opening.

Transmission oil is drained while hot (i.e., immediately after driving the vehicle); contaminants are removed more easily from hot oil. Wear rubber gloves when performing this work.

2. Place the necessary equipment under the vehicle, taking care not to touch hot exhaust system components.
3. Remove the filler plug (1) on the manual transmission. Refer to the accompanying illustration.

5. Allow the oil to drain completely. Thoroughly clean the drain plug, then install it and tighten it securely.

* Never dispose of the oil with household waste.

6. Screw in the drain plug and tighten it to 50 N·m.
7. Fill the transmission with new oil, then install the filler plug and tighten it securely.
8. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Install the engine compartment undertray. After driving the first few kilometers, check the drain plug for leaks.

* Make sure not to overfill the oil above the lower edge of the filler opening.

9. Tighten the filler plug to the torque specified in the Specifications.
