Adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser

~2min read

The adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser on the Citroën C6 (1st generation, 2005–2012) provides greater driving stability and more efficient braking at higher speeds. It adjusts automatically to the vehicle speed and extends into different positions depending on speed. Especially when driving above 65 km/h or 125 km/h, it makes an important contribution to vehicle safety and improves aerodynamics while reducing air resistance. Correct handling is also specified when servicing the vehicle or transporting accessories. For owners who value technology and performance, this feature is a real advantage. The easy-to-service design and clear activation instructions make it easy to use, including with accessories such as bicycle carriers or high-pressure cleaning.

Adaptiver aerodynamik - stabilisator

The adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser improves the aerodynamics and braking behaviour of your vehicle.

Automatic extension

There are two possible extension positions:

  • The first extension position is set from approximately 65 km/h.

This position is maintained as long as the speed is above approximately 25 km/h; below this speed, the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser retracts fully.

  • The second extension position is set from approximately 125 km/h.

This position is maintained as long as the speed is above approximately 105 km/h; below this speed, the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser returns to the first extension position.

Maintenance

To service the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser (e.g. if leaves or other objects are trapped), extend the stabiliser into service position: switch the ignition on and operate the wiper lever within one minute. The adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser extends.

To retract again, start the engine and drive at more than 10 km/h.

Note: The service position aligns the wiper blades vertically. See "Windscreen wipers".

Accessories

  • It is recommended to move the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser into the service position before fitting accessories to the boot lid (e.g. bicycle carrier).
  • Fitting accessories to the vehicle (roof rack, roof box, bicycle carrier, etc.) limits the performance of the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser.

Note: Depending on the engine, certain versions are fitted with a fixed rear spoiler.

Only clean the vehicle with a high-pressure cleaner when the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser is closed.

The adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser on the Citroën C6 1st generation optimises aerodynamics and improves braking behaviour. Its automatic adjustment at different speeds keeps the Citroën C6 2005–2012 stable and efficient on the road. This technology contributes significantly to safety and driving dynamics.

The maintenance and cleaning functions of the system are designed to ensure a long service life. Even when using accessories such as roof boxes or bicycle carriers, the Citroën C6 1st generation offers a flexible solution for adjusting the stabiliser.

With this feature, the Citroën C6 2005–2012 demonstrates its high technical standards and confirms its position as an upper-class saloon with innovative solutions for driving comfort and safety.
