Lighting and signalling

~4min read

The "Lighting and signalling" section of the Citroën C6 covers all relevant lighting and warning equipment, from indicators through main beam to fog lamps and hazard warning lights. Special functions such as automatic lighting activation, the delayed lighting-off function and daytime running lights provide additional comfort and safety. Detailed explanations and operating instructions for the stalk and rings on the steering column make the controls intuitive. Audible warning signals when the lights are on are also included. A complete overview of all signalling systems, essential for visibility and vehicle safety.

To change direction, move the stalk past the detent point. The indicator cancels automatically when the steering wheel is turned back.

Hazard warning lights

This operates all turn indicators at the same time.

Use only in an emergency, for example during an emergency stop or when driving in exceptional conditions.

The hazard warning lights also work with the ignition off.

Audible warning when lights are on

With the ignition off, a warning tone sounds when the driver's door is opened to indicate that the lights are still on.

The warning tone stops when the door is closed, when the lights are switched off or when the ignition is switched on.

This warning does not sound when the automatic lighting function and/or the delayed lighting-off function is active.

Automatic activation of hazard warning lights

The hazard warning lights switch on automatically when the vehicle brakes hard.

The lights switch off again when the vehicle accelerates again, or manually by pressing the hazard warning light control on the dashboard.

A change of direction cannot be indicated while the hazard warning lights are on.

Automatic lighting activation

Side lights and dipped beam switch on automatically in low light and when the windscreen wipers are in continuous operation. They switch off again once there is enough light or when the windscreen wipers are switched off.

This function can be activated or deactivated in the "Personalisation/Configuration" menu in the "Main menu".

Note: This function is activated immediately, whereas deactivation requires the ignition to be switched off.

In fog or snow, the light sensor may register sufficient light intensity, so the lights may not switch on automatically.

Do not cover the light sensor behind the interior mirror, which is visible from outside through the windscreen.

Follow-me-home lighting function

This function allows the headlamps to be switched on briefly, which can be useful, for example, in a poorly lit car park.

This function is activated:

  • Manually, by pulling control A with the ignition off.
  • Automatically, under the following condition:
    • automatic lighting activation is switched on,
    • and the delayed lighting-off function is switched on. To do this, select "Personalisation/Configuration" in the "Main menu", then select the Lighting and signalling submenu and activate the function.

See "Multifunction display".

Note: The duration of the delayed lighting-off function can be changed in the "Personalisation/Configuration" menu (approximately 60, 30 or 15 seconds).

Fog lamps and rear fog lamp (ring C)

Switching on

Dipped beam/main beam on: turn ring C forwards.

Signalanlage

Signalanlage Fog lamps on

Turn ring C forwards.

Signalanlage Fog lamps and rear fog lamp on

Switching off

Turn once to the rear to switch off the fog lights.

Turn a further time to the rear to switch off the fog lights and rear fog lights.

Note: The rear fog lamp may only be switched on in fog or heavy snowfall with visibility below 50 m.

Daytime running lights

Switched on automatically when the engine is running:

  • If the function is activated in the main menu. See "Multifunction display".
  • When the light switch is in position 0 and all headlamps are switched off.

The side lights are also switched on together with the daytime running lights (depending on the country of sale).

If the lighting is not activated automatically in fog, you can switch on the dipped beam and fog lamps manually.

The signaling system of the Citroën C6 is designed for maximum safety and ease of use. Whether turn signals, hazard warning lamps or fog lamps, all functions can be operated intuitively. This simplifies operation and enhances safety in road traffic.

The automatic activation of the hazard warning lamps during hard braking is a practical feature that sets the Citroën C6 apart from many other vehicles. It makes this saloon a well-engineered and safe vehicle for every driving situation.
