Windscreen wipers

The windscreen wiper of the Citroën C6 offers several wiping modes, from intermittent and automatic to fast wiping, adapted to speed and weather. This chapter explains operation by lever as well as the specifics of automatic rain-sensor operation. The wiper blade service position, replacement of the wiper blades and protection of the aerodynamics are also covered. The automatic wiping is controlled by a rain sensor located behind the interior mirror. Combined with the windscreen washer system, it ensures optimum visibility in all weather conditions.

Lever positions

2: Fast wiping.

1: Normal wiping.

I: Intermittent wiping.

0: Off.

Press down once:

• AUTO: automatic wiper mode activated.
• Single wipe cycle.

For safety reasons, the wiper system is deactivated when the ignition is switched off.

Position I: The wiping interval is set automatically depending on the vehicle speed.

Positions 1 and 2: When the vehicle is stationary, the wiper speed reduces automatically.

When the ignition is switched on again, to reactivate the function:

Return to position 0, then select the desired position.

Activation of the function is indicated by a single wipe.

Automatic wiping: To activate the automatic wiper function, set the lever to position 0, then press it down once. The wiping interval is regulated automatically depending on the rain intensity.

Note: Pressing the lever down triggers a single wipe, which does not deactivate the automatic wiper function.

Deactivating the automatic wiper function:

• Move to position I, then return the lever to position 0.
• Or switch off the engine.

Important

Do not cover the rain sensor, which is mounted behind the interior mirror and is visible from outside through the windscreen.

When washing the vehicle with the ignition on, e.g. in an automatic car wash, deactivate the wiper system.

Replacing the wiper blades

To replace the wiper blades, place them in service position. To do so, switch off the ignition and operate the wiper lever within the next minute. The wiper blades are positioned vertically.

After replacement, switch on the ignition and operate the wiper lever so that the wiper blades return to their normal position.

Note: This setting also places the adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser in service position. See 'Adaptive aerodynamic stabiliser'.

Windscreen washer system

To activate the windscreen washer system, pull the wiper lever.

At the same time as the windscreen washers, the wipers run briefly and, when the dipped beam is on, the headlamp washers are activated.

A message in the display indicates that only approximately one litre of washer fluid remains.

Make sure the front wiper blades are not blocked by frost.

Remove all snow accumulation from the lower edge of the windscreen.
