Intruder and interior protection

~4min read

The intruder and interior protection system in the Citroën C6 (1st generation) protects the vehicle and its occupants from unauthorised access. This chapter describes the function of the exterior and interior sensors, the siren, indicator lights and alarm sequence. The system can be armed or disarmed using the remote control or the key. It also explains how interior protection can be deliberately deactivated when transporting animals or washing the vehicle. This comprehensive guide clearly explains how to activate the system correctly and what to do in the event of an alarm.

Your vehicle may be equipped with an INTRUDER AND INTERIOR PROTECTION system.

This ensures:

  • Exterior protection via sensors on the openings (doors, boot, bonnet) and on the power supply.
  • Interior protection via ultrasonic sensors (detection of movement inside the vehicle). This can be deactivated using control 1.
Aufbruch- und Innenraumsicherung

The system also includes an alarm siren and an externally visible indicator light on control 1, which shows the three possible states of the alarm system:

  • Alarm system not activated (not in standby), indicator light off.
  • Alarm system activated (in standby mode), indicator light flashing slowly.
  • Alarm triggered (break-in signal). The indicator light flashes rapidly when the alarm is deactivated by pressing control A. It switches off when the ignition is switched on.

Note: If there is a malfunction, the indicator light stays on continuously.

Deactivating the alarm with the remote control

Standby mode is switched off when the vehicle is unlocked (pressing control A on the remote control).

Deactivating the alarm with the key

Unlock the doors with the key.

The alarm siren is activated.

Get into the vehicle and turn the ignition key to the ignition on position to allow the alarm siren to be switched off. Otherwise, the alarm siren remains active for approximately 30 seconds.

Alarm system function

First make sure that all vehicle openings are closed properly.

The alarm is armed by pressing control B on the remote control.

When the alarm is armed, exterior protection becomes active after 5 seconds and interior protection after 45 seconds.

When the alarm is in standby mode, the alarm siren sounds for 30 seconds for each break-in, and the turn signals are activated at the same time.

The alarm then returns to standby mode, but the trigger is stored and indicated by a rapid flashing of the indicator light on control 1 after the alarm is deactivated by pressing unlock control A. This flashing stops when the ignition is switched on.

The alarm siren is also triggered if the power supply is interrupted. To switch it off, restore the power supply and press unlock control A.

Note:

  • If you want to lock the vehicle without activating the alarm standby mode, simply lock the vehicle with the key.
  • If a door or the tailgate is not closed when the vehicle is locked, the central locking will not engage, but the alarm will be activated after approximately 45 seconds.

Note: The alarm siren is switched off automatically (e.g. to disconnect the battery) as soon as the vehicle is unlocked with the remote control.

Deactivating interior protection

The alarm can also be operated with exterior protection only, by switching off interior protection (for example, if an animal is to remain in the vehicle).

To do this, switch off the ignition, then immediately press control 1 for at least one second.

The indicator light on control 1 must stay on continuously. It starts to flash when the alarm is armed.

Arm the alarm by locking the vehicle with the remote control.

It is recommended to deactivate interior protection when washing your vehicle to prevent the alarm from being triggered.

Automatic arming (depending on country of sale)

The alarm is armed automatically 2 minutes after the last door or the tailgate is closed.

To prevent the alarm from being triggered when a door or the tailgate is opened, be sure to press unlock control A on the remote control again.

Aufbruch- und Innenraumsicherung

The Citroën C6 break-in and interior protection system offers modern protection against unauthorised access. Exterior sensors and interior ultrasonic sensors monitor the vehicle all around. Operation is simple, and the driver is informed of the alarm system status at all times.

The option to deactivate interior protection is particularly practical, for example when an animal remains in the vehicle. This gives the Citroën C6 flexibility and security in every situation. The intelligent alarm system underlines the premium character of this vehicle.

With this equipment, the Citroën C6 sets standards in terms of protection and technology. The well-designed alarm system provides peace of mind, whether travelling or in everyday use.
