Parking assist

~3min read

The Citroën C6 parking assist combines audible warnings with visual indications on the display to detect obstacles reliably. Front and rear sensors respond at speeds below 10 km/h; the tones become more intense the closer the vehicle gets to an obstacle. The exact area is also shown graphically, allowing precise orientation. The function can be switched on or off manually and the setting is stored after the vehicle is switched off. Deactivation is particularly important when towing a trailer. The system therefore provides valuable support in town traffic or when parking in tight spaces. It relieves the driver but never replaces your own attention; it is a reliable addition for greater safety in everyday driving.

Distance sensors are fitted to the front and rear bumpers of your vehicle.

When manoeuvring in forward or reverse gear at low speeds of less than approximately 10 km/h, these inform you of an obstacle in the detection area as follows:

  • An audible signal sounded through the front or rear speakers.
  • The vehicle outline is displayed with segments corresponding to the areas where an obstacle has been detected.

As the vehicle approaches the obstacle, the audible signal through the front left or right and rear left or right speakers indicates the exact position of this obstacle.

Note: The volume of the audio system is automatically reduced when the audible signal sounds.

As the vehicle approaches the obstacle, the audible signal becomes faster and the segments are displayed closer to the vehicle.

When the obstacle is at least approximately 25 cm from the vehicle, the audible signal sounds continuously and the "CAUTION" message appears on the display.

Activation/deactivation

The parking assist can be activated/deactivated by pressing control 1. When the parking assist is not activated, the indicator light of control 1 is on.

The activation/deactivation status of the parking assist is stored when the vehicle is switched off.

Note: When attaching a trailer, deactivate the parking assist by pressing control 1. The indicator light of the control comes on.

Function

When reverse gear is engaged, an audible signal indicates that the system is active. The vehicle outline is shown on the display. Obstacles in front of or behind the vehicle can be detected.

When in forward gear and at a speed below approx. 10 km/h, or in neutral or in gear, the outline of the vehicle is shown on the display as soon as an obstacle is detected in front of the vehicle. Obstacles in front of or behind the vehicle can be detected.

Notes:

  • The distance sensors cannot detect obstacles located directly below or above the bumpers.
  • Objects such as bollards, road works signs or similar can only be detected at the start of the parking manoeuvre. Once the vehicle gets close to them, they are no longer detected.
  • In bad weather or in winter, make sure that the sensors are not dirty or covered with frost or snow.

The parking assistance system does not release the driver from their attention and responsibility in any way.
