Warning lamp for unfastened seat belts
Seat belts in the Citroën C6 (1st Gen) are equipped with an intelligent detection system that signals unfastened belts for all seating positions. The system indicates visually and audibly whether front or rear belts are not in use, particularly at speeds above 20 km/h. The function is deactivated when the ignition is switched off or a door is opened, but provides reliable monitoring while driving. The warnings help improve safety behavior and allow timely response, an important element for occupant protection and road safety.
Function

The driver and front passenger seats as well as the rear seats are fitted with sensors to detect unfastened seat belts.
The fastened/unfastened status of the seat belts is shown for each seat by indicator lights 1, 2 and 3 illuminating or flashing.
Function of the detection system

Driver's and front passenger seat
When the ignition is switched on:
- An unfastened seat belt on the driver's side is indicated by warning lamp 1 on the instrument cluster lighting up.
- An unfastened seat belt on the front passenger side is indicated by warning lamp 3 lighting up.
At speeds of 20 km/h and above, the warning lamp for unfastened seat belts flashes for about 2 minutes; at the same time a message appears and a warning tone sounds. Afterwards, warning lamp(s) 1 and/or 3 remain illuminated.
Rear seats
When the ignition is switched on, warning lamp 2 lights up to inform the driver and any occupants.
When the doors are closed and the engine has been started, the message shows the status of the rear seat belts (fastened/unfastened) for 30 seconds.
After this time, if one or more rear seat belts are not fastened:
- Warning lamp 2 lights up when the speed is below approx. 20 km/h.
- When the speed is above approx. 20 km/h, warning lamp 2 flashes for about two minutes; at the same time a message appears and a warning tone sounds.
Note:
- Detection of an unfastened rear seat belt is deactivated when the ignition is switched off or a vehicle door is opened.
- A child seat installed on the front passenger seat cannot be detected.
After closing the doors and starting the engine, the driver must make sure that the occupants:
- have fastened their seat belts,
- are wearing the seat belts correctly.
The warning lamp for unfastened seat belts in the Citroën C6 1st Gen reliably warns when a belt is not properly fastened. This increases safety in the Citroën C6 2005–2012 and reminds the driver to protect all occupants. The system monitors the driver, front passenger and rear seats alike.
This system helps raise the safety standard of the Citroën C6 1st Gen and makes the saloon the ideal choice for safety-conscious drivers and families.
