Lane Centering
How Lane Centering Works
Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering uses radar and camera sensors to help keep your vehicle in its lane by applying a continuous assist torque to the steering wheel input to center the vehicle in the lane on highways.
Lane Centering Precautions
Adaptive Cruise Control precautions apply to Lane Centering unless otherwise stated or contradicted by the Lane Centering precautions.
Lane Centering Requirements
You must keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times.
The system is activated only when all of the following occur:
- You have Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go.
- Lane Centering assist is turned on in your information display screen.
- You have your hands on the steering wheel.
- The system detects both lane markings.
Lane Centering Limitations
Adaptive Cruise Control limitations apply to Lane Centering unless otherwise stated or contradicted by the Lane Centering limitation.
Lane Centering may not operate correctly in any of the following conditions:
- Your vehicle is not centered in the lane.
- The lane is too narrow or too wide.
- The system does not detect at least one lane marking, or when lanes merge or split.
- Limited steering input torque is applied.
- Road construction or new infrastructure areas.
- When steering has been modified the system is disabled.
- When using a temporary spare tire.
- In high winds.
You must keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times.
The controls are located on the steering wheel.
Press the resume switch.
The indicator appears in the information display. When the system is on, the indicator color changes to show the system status.
You can override the system at any time by steering your vehicle.
You must keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times.
When the system is active and does not detect steering activity for a certain period of time, the system warns you to place your hands on the steering wheel. If you do not respond to the warnings, the system cancels and slows your vehicle to idle speed while maintaining steering.
The system also warns you if your vehicle crosses lane markings without detecting steering activity.
When an external condition cancels the system, such as lack of available lane markings, a chime sounds and a message appears in the instrument cluster display.
If your vehicle begins to slow down, apply steering input to the steering wheel and press and release the resume button to restore full system performance.
Automatic Cancellation of Lane Centering
When an external condition cancels the system, such as lack of available lane markings, a chime sounds and a message appears in the instrument cluster display.
If your vehicle begins to slow down, you must apply steering input to the steering wheel and press and release the button to restore full system performance.
Automatic cancellation may also occur if:
- The lane becomes too wide or too narrow.
- The system cannot identify a valid lane marking.
- Lane markings cross each other.
