INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE

1. Lightly apply RTV sealant to the pump body mating surface with the cylinder block. Make sure the locating pin is in place and install the pump after replacing the O-rings. Apply RTV sealant to the threads of the mounting bolts, install them and tighten to the specified torque.

Install the pump within 5 minutes of applying the sealant. Make sure the flats on the inner pump rotor align with the matching flats on the crankshaft journal.

2. Install the gear assembly with the gear cover on the rear balance shaft. Then install the timing belt and the balance shaft drive belt.
3. Install the CKP/TDC sensor in place and tighten its mounting bolts to the pump to the specified torque. Reconnect the wiring harness to its original position.
4. Install the oil pickup assembly in place and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque (do not forget to replace the gaskets).
5. Install the oil pan (refer to Engine Oil Pan Removal and Installation).
6. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of removal. Finally, do not forget to fill the engine with engine oil and fill the cooling system (refer to Maintenance and Adjustment chapter).
7. Start the engine and check for signs of leaks.
