PROCEDURE

1. Swing the tie rod 10 times.
2. Using a spring scale, measure the force required to swing the tie rod.

Tie rod swing force: 2–5 N

3. If the measured value exceeds the specified value, replace the tie rod assembly.

If the measured value is below the specified value and the tie rod moves smoothly without play, it can be installed on the vehicle. However, if the measured value is below 4.3 N, replace the tie rod.
